Linkskin 1st Eyewear Environmentally Friendly

The first frame in the world made with recycled and recyclable materials
A philosophy, a concept, a new approach to optics.

Linkskin team was born from a mix of different design influences such as France, Singapore, Japan, Australia...putting all mindsets and high tech innovations together, to reach a unique idea: ecofriendly eyewear.

- The Concept

Linkskin is a frame constructed without soldering, screws or hinges; it strives to create evironmentally friendly eyewear that is RoHS compliant with international environmental protection standards through the adoption of eco-friendly processes in the production cycle.
Linkskin uses recycled materials to reduce adverse environmental impacts and advocates corporate social responsibility and awareness.
Ongoing applications of ecolabel certifications for Blue Angel (Germany), Eco Mark (Japan) and Green Label (Singapore) marks its commitment to the "green" cause.

-The Technology

Linkskin encompasses the unique combination of recycled plastics and stainless steel components to create one of the world's first recycled eyewear with qualities of durability and versatility.
The frame front is made from recycled polycarbonate (PC) pellets extruded into sheet from of 0.8 mm in thickness; different eye shapes are cut out from the sheets for variety of designs. the temples are made from recycled PC pellets through the process of injection molding.
A patent pending mechanism, the 'Buckle-Lock" is applied to secure the temple to metal end. The tip of the ends, shaped like a "fork" is secured to the temple by sliding it through the groove. This application spells easy handling with no soldering or screws required for frame assembly.
The metal bar forming the supporting structure of the frame-front uses yet another patent-pending mechanisme, the "Button-Lock" concept to clip the recycled plastic frame front to the supporting metal structure. It is a simple yet unique and innovative use of small metal protrusions or "buttons" on the metal bar which are finally jam-locked, securely.
Weighing less than 10 grams (excluding lens), it is extremely lightweight, durable and has good tensile strength.

-The Materials

Frames front is cut from extruded recycled PC sheets; the temples are made from injection molded recycled PC pellets, finished with RoHS certified paintwork. The metal bar structure is made of stainless steel; and silicone for the nose pads.
For Packaging, Linskin casing, made of recycled PP plastic material is currently under construction.

A new award for LunettesLink, its new model LINKSKIN won the Red Dot Award, one of the most prestigious design award, 1 year only after the IFDesign award.
